
Marian Verkerk is a visual artist working with experimental photographic processes that challenge the stability of the image. Next to these experimental photographic processes, she is also interested in B&W photography, especially landscapes and architecture.
In a former life she has studied philosophy. She was form 1995 till 2023 and for the last 25 years Professor in Ethics at the University of Groningen.
From 2008 -2010 and 2012-2014 she was a student at the Fotoacademie in Amsterdam. After that she continued to receive coaching from teachers of the academy for several years.
In 2025 she started as a student at the Agora, School of Experimentation for the diploma in Experimental Photography.
She also follows some online courses at the NordPhotograpphy in Norwegian, such as the Alternative Process Forum of Jill Enfield.
She lives in Friesland with her wife and their small do. During the winter months she likes to stay in Spain. The changing light and landscapes continue to inspire her creative process.
